The Central Board of Secondary Education is likely to release the official notification of University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) 2018 on February 1 at cbsenet.nic.in. The online application process for the same is expected to start in the month of March 2018 and continue till April 2018. According to media reports, the exam is likely to be conducted on July 8, 2018. While the official notification is yet to be released by CBSE, the mentioned dates are tentative and subject to change. In addition to this, candidates prepping to appear for UGC NET 2018 in July, can expect changes in the exam pattern, age limit criteria needed for the same.
According to an NDTV report, this years UGC NET examination will consist of two papers. While Paper 1 will consist of 50 compulsory questions, it will be conducted for 1 hour. The Paper 2 will have 100 compulsory questions and will be conducted for a total duration of 2 hours. While the total marks for Paper 1 will be 100; it will be 200 for Paper 2. Earlier, the exam was conducted in three sessions. Paper I had 50 compulsory questions for 100 marks, Paper II also had 50 compulsory questions for 100 marks, while Paper III had 75 compulsory questions for a total of 150 marks.
As per the report, this year the upper age limit for appearing in JRF has also been raised by two years: from the existing 28 years to 30 years (the relaxation as earlier will remain same). Earlier, the age limit for candidates applying for UGC NET was not more than 28 years. A relaxation up to 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC.
