Mumtaz Jehan, later to be known as Madhubala, was born on February 14 (which marks Valentine’s Day), 1933 in Delhi. She was touted as ‘The Venus of Indian Cinema’ and there is no denying that MadhubaInla, in her life spanning 36 years, was no less than a living legend. This Bollywood’s iconic beauty and talent garnered popularity for her performances in films like Mahal (1949), Amar (1954), Mr & Mrs ’55 (1955), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Mughal-e-Azam (1960) and Barsaat Ki Raat (1960), among others. Her last film was Jwala, which was shot in the 1950s but was released in 1971.
When I ask you who is the most beautiful woman in the world, and the first name that will come to your mind is Madhubala; most people will take her name without even thinking for a second. And it is true that the actress was arguably the most beautiful artiste to ever grace the Indian screen, wasn’t she?
