Transport Commissioner J&K, Jammu, Dr. S.P Vaid on Thursday formally handed over 450 Registration Certificates of vehicles to Gourav Srivastava, Director Postal Services Jammu in a simple function held here at Transport Bhawan Jammu for home delivery to the applicant through Postal Department. On the occasion, it was informed to the Transport Commissioner by Regional Transport Officer Jammu that the department has already delivered more than 6,000 Driving Licenses to the applicants through postal department since July 2018 and the move is highly appreciated by the general masses. Transport Commissioner lauded the role of Postal Department in timely delivery of driving licenses and asked the Motor Vehicles Department to bring all type of documents being issued from the department under postal delivery so that less number of people visits RTO/ARTO offices to avail the different types of services. He was of the view that strenuous efforts should be made in the department to address the grievances of the applicants and complaints/suggestion box shall be placed in all the offices across the State. Earlier, Transport Commissioner held a meeting to review the functioning of different services being provided under Vahan and Saarthi by the department through NIC and to make the payment of postal charges automated through the payment gateway. The NIC Coordinator gave presentation for implementation of e-challan in the department to make the enforcement more meaningful.
