Meet Chiewelou Thele, Former National Level Archer From Nagaland, Now The Face Of Delhi Police

For Chiewelou Thele, life has changed in ways she could have never imagined of. From being a national level archer to becoming the face Delhi police.Thele, who hails from Nagaland is the new face of Delhi Police, the first real face of one of the best-trained police forces in the country after it decided to do away with using stock images.The new posters of Delhi police released recently have Thele holding an AK-47 as the face of the campaign.According to senior officials, Thele was chosen to be the face of Delhi police, because she was the best trainee of her batch. She has performed well in all the areas during her training. She was also chosen to represent the diversity within the Delhi Police.

“I don’t know why I was selected. I was just asked to come for the shoot. The day the posters were released, I got many calls from my friends and colleagues. I never thought that being in the police will give me a face value,”

Thele said when asked about how she was selected.

The former archer who underwent commando training said her background helped her a  lot during rifle shooting.

“I had never even seen a rifle before joining the police force, but I am the best female shooter of my batch, and the credit goes to my archery training,” she said.The new batch of commandos are armed with an AK-47 assault rifle, or an MP5 submachine gun, with at least four 30-round magazines, a Glock 17 or Glock 26 pistol, hand grenades, a wireless set, a 20-metre nylon rope, a pencil torch, a bulletproof helmet, bulletproof jacket, flame torch, cutter and a commando dagger. Special knee and elbow pads are also worn for protection during stealth attacks.
