Xiaomi finally releases the Android 8.0 Oreo, for the Mi A1 in India. The popular Xiaomi Mi A1 would be the first smartphone under Rs 15,000 to run the latest Android operating system.
The company made the announcement on Twitter, and stated that users need to update to the 7.12.19 version, which was released earlier this month, to receive the update. The update is 1107.4MB in size and includes the December Android security patch along with other new features too. Xiaomi started rolling out the update on December 31, 2017. It also pointed out that the update will be rolled out in batches.
E-commerce portal Flipkart is also offering a discount on the Xiaomi Mi A1. The 64GB, 4GB RAM variant, in Black is currently priced at Rs 14,999. Flipkart is offering a discount of Rs 1,000 which brings the price down to Rs 13,999. Additionally, customers can get up to Rs 13,000 off on exchange with an older smartphone. This means, a customer can purchase the Xiaomi Mi A1 from Flipkart, for as low as Rs 999. Also, Axis Bank Buzz credit card users will get an additional 5 percent off.
In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi Mi A1 features a 5.5-inch full HD display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It includes an internal storage of 64GB that can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.Running Android 7.1.2 Nougat out-of-the-box, the smartphone includes a 12MP+12MP camera with a telephoto and a wide angle lens along with a 5MP front-facing camera. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, 3.5mm audio jack and a USB Type-C port. A 3,080mAh battery completes the package.
